Zarina Holmes (MA Design) is a graphic designer, photographer, writer and award-winning creative director who has produced work for lifestyle brands and magazines since 2001. She reports on pop culture subjects, covering events such as London Book Fair and MCM Comic Con, the UK’s largest pop culture convention.

Her personal work is After The Rain, a journal on mindfulness and a meditation on nature between her homes in the UK and Malaysia.

Her foray into the photography and journalism profession started while working at a travel publishing company in Surrey, UK. From 2001 – 2008 she was staff photographer and creative editor at BMI Publishing, reporting on product news and design for Onboard Hospitality magazine in Europe and the Far East. Her photography work has been published in magazines and news titles such as Selling Long Haul, The Evening Standard, Short Breaks & Holidays, Lux Magazine, Photography Monthly, BBC World Service, Tech City News, Thailand Tourism Guide, Malaysia Tourism Guide, Onboard Hospitality, The Ballet Bag and many more. 

Zarina specialises in lifestyle photography – producing fashion look books, content and e-commerce art direction. She’s worked with accessories brand Sloane Ranger (US), the V&A, The British Council’s New Silk Road Programme, London Fashion Week, Uzbekistan Fashion Week and interior design companies.

In 2015, she was a co-founded graphic design company in London, Studio GLUE, winner of Best Creative / Media Start-up at the 2018 Hammersmith and Fulham Brilliant Business Awards (UK). The studio is now based in Malaysia and SE Asia.

Zarina is an experienced educator. In 2011, she launched City Academy’s photography department, where she led photography workshops in Covent Garden and central London, UK until 2023. She has conducted workshops independently in Southeast and Central Asia regions.
