Mindful photography workshop through spontaneous compositions of seasonal flowers and upcycled containers such as jars and bottles.
Relax in the iconic Missionworks’s Hanging Garden and enjoy the company of flowers through this mindful photography workshop, led by photographer and flower artist Zarina Holmes. This unique workshop invites participants to study the materials at hand, have fun improvising and create beautiful images through mindfulness perspective. Explore the concept of “hear-and-now” and see the potential of each wonderful object in front of us.

What you’ll learn:

Still life flower photography, using seasonal flowers and props from upcycled containers such as jars and bottles.

Two sessions of flower photography lessons, exploring different themes and concepts.

Composition, styling, improvisation and natural lighting

Exploring mindfulness, appreciating nature and sustainability awareness.

Finding beauty in imperfections and impermanence, inspired by the Japanese art concept of “wabi-sabi.”
What you need: A digital camera or a smartphone. Tea towel for wiping wet surfaces. Flower scissors, but not mandatory.

About Zarina Holmes:
Zarina is a photographer and educator, specialising in lifestyle and nature subjects. She’s led photography workshops for organisations such as City Academy UK, Apricity London, The British Council and Warna Workshops. She’s also co-founder of award-winning GLUE Studio, a creative agency based in London, UK. Her photobooks on meditative photography, After The Rain Number 1 & 2, were selected for the Malaysian Photobook Exhibition 2022 and included in the Malaysian Photobook Archive. Zarina enjoys gardening. She is currently studying ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement.
